Hanging flowers by ribbon is a simply lovely way to dress up a space for your wedding or reception. Whether you go with an all-white look or a thematic colour, or just use greenery, hanging arrangements will look fabulous and fresh.

I also love when the flowers are adorned with strands of clear beads and baubles. Or you can go with a more low-key feel, and hang flowers from jars or cans. Flowers are just the beginning of this trend. Patterned parasols, colourful paper pom poms, candle holders, and adorable little birdcages--if you can string it up en masse, you will delight your guests with such a display.

.......

I used to hang all sorts of things from thread, ribbon, etc, when doing window displays for shops. It was always an easy way to create an eye-catching window. My favourite display was done by folding several dozen origami paper cranes, in bright pink, orange, and white, and hanging them in a sweeping diagonal. There was no merchandise in the window at all! I just added a paper "sale" banner, looking as if two of the cranes were holding it in their beaks.
