My New Blog!

I'm so excited to tell you about my new blog! It's a cooking and lifestyle blog called a delicious moment

A delicious moment is all about celebrating the beautiful and delicious moments of everyday life. This new blog is about making delicious food, sharing beautiful occasions with loved ones, and creating things which make me smile. I believe in appreciating everyday pleasures, and making life more beautiful. Those small graces of daily life can bring some of the best moments. Creating beauty at home, making a delicious meal for family or friends, or giving a handmade gift can bring such joy.

I have had lots of fun doing lamb & blonde, for the last few years, but I've been feeling like I need to be more creative, and create my own original content online. I started a delicious moment because I really want to do my own thing, not simply post pictures of pretty rooms that other people have created (I will definitely still be doing some of that, though, since my obsession with gorgeous homes is never-ending!). After following lots of food and lifestyle blogs, and feeling super inspired by so many of them, I thought "Hey, I want to join in the fun!" So, here I am. I hope you will check out my new blog, and bear with me and my fledgling attempts at photography, as I do my best to share my recipes, decorating, DIY/ crafty/ artsy, and entertaining ideas with you.

I'll be sharing a little glimpse of our life with you on a delicious moment. I hope this new blog will feel like a get-together with friends over coffee, with whoever is reading. I hope you will find inspiration and will enjoy making something, too. I would love to hear from you!

I hope you will join me at... a delicious moment.

sweet dreams are made of these

These beautiful bedrooms are the stuff that dreams are made of...

I cannot choose a favourite style for the bedroom. There are just so many beauties out there. As you can see, I will never tire of seeing a gorgeous wallpaper in a bedroom. I'm also a huge fan of having a bedroom--or any room, which creates a special atmosphere, with colours that sing, a mix of personal artifacts, things that are unique. I love a space that isn't afraid to have personality. I feel that a bedroom is the perfect place to indulge in your most dramatic fantasies, because it is such a private space. I also enjoy a more laid-back, soothing palette in a bedroom, with comfort being the key.

So, go for that bold dark hue or wild, wonderful wallpaper. Or pare things back to the simplest, most relaxing elements. It's just for you.

May your dreams be sweet....

Artist Spotlight: Richard Misrach

The other day, I was introduced to the hauntingly beautiful photography of Richard Misrach. His photos of water really resonate with me, reminding me of the vast expanse of watery views on Lake Erie, where I grew up. I also found myself being drawn to his photos of the rolling hills and mountains in the American Southwest. As his bio on Artsy says, Misrach's photography explores "the importance of time in photos, in its infinite number of permutations" and "meditate on human intervention in the landscape and probe the environmental impact of industry".

If you would like to see more of Richard Misrach's work, plan a visit to the Crystal Bridge Museum of American Art at the exhibit "Border Cantos: Sight & Sound Explorations from the Mexican-American Border" between February 18 - April 24, 2017.

Almost-Spring Tablescape Inspiration

Are you ready for some lovely leafy greenery, fresh floral inspiration, and beautifully personal tables? (I always am!) I don't know about you, but, after the craziness of the holidays, I just want to see simpler, more laid-back table styling.

February can be a long, dreary month for those of you in cold climates, and you are probably yearning for a little hint of spring, right? I hope these table ideas will help you get through those last few cold weeks and inspire you to freshen up your tablescapes, to look forward to the sunnier days ahead.

I'm really into a more rustic look, right now, such as beautifully imperfect china and wooden boxes full of succulents and roses. I love the brass, rose gold, and copper trends going on, as well as matte black finishes, especially for ceramics. Berries, branches, and small fruit are wonderful elements, along with cut flowers. I also love seeing gum leaves, protea, and wildflowers on the table. They look so natural and informal (and they grow well here in South Australia, so that's a bonus for me!). Personal touches, like handmade place cards, are such a lovely way to let your guests know that you appreciate them. Finally, let's not forget how gorgeous indoor bulbs can be in late winter, to bring a bit of spring into your home.

Any time of year, it's nice to see something verdant and welcoming, as we sit at the table. Enjoy...
