Cheers!

We had quite a memorable holiday weekend, to put it mildly. Let's just say that Glen and I are very glad to be returning to our normal life together, minus the stress of Christmas.

I learned how to prepare prawns, when we made them for Christmas Eve dinner, with Glen's daughters. I must say, I don't ever plan to do that again! Beheading my food is not something I would like to repeat. Next time, we plan to buy prawns already prepared and cooked.

Lots of light summery foods and delicious wines were enjoyed this weekend, including a tasty sparkling shiraz and a lovely dessert wine (wish I knew which grape it was). We made two kinds of ice creams, strawberry and hazelnut, which went over quite well, especially the hazelnut one. We will definitely be making another batch of that soon.

I'm still feeling festive, and looking forward to enjoying New Year's Eve, which has always been one of my favourite holidays of the year. Bring on the bubbly!

Cheers! Hope you're all having a wonderful holiday week!

P.S. I almost forgot to mention that the image above was from a window display designed by Eddie Ross for "The Modern Woman" themed window challenge by Elle Decor for Bloomingdale's in 2010. I love the shimmering mirrors and glass, as well as the colour scheme of pink, blue, and gold. What a fabulous room vignette! (image found here)

Nice to hear from someone who loves New Year's Eve. It's been years since I felt that way, but I'm glad there are revelers keeping the tradition alive!

Delicious description of the food and drink -- you paint a beautiful picture with words, as always.

I actually blogged at Buttercup Bungalow today. This can only mean one thing: I'm on a vacation from The Daily Corgi. I'll miss my doggy friends soon enough!

Cheers,

Laurie
