Wishing all the Dads in Australia a happy Father's Day on Sunday.
My beautiful little boy is the greatest gift ever, and I have my wonderful man, Glen, to thank for it. Thank you, darling, for everything you do for our family. We love you.
I was just glancing at my folder of nursery images, and I realized that every single room had a neutral colour scheme. I love how serene, soothing, and elegant this look is, for a baby's room. Plus, it can be used for either a boy or a girl. A little colour, especially soft hues, and fun, eye-catching accent pieces add plenty of personality to such spaces.
Speaking of nurseries, we finally hung the lovely bunting from Starlit Nest Gifts on the wall above our son Levi's cot today, since the landlord has given us the go-ahead on hanging things on the walls. It has really changed the look of the room! Levi seems to like it, too. Now we just need to organize some things in the room a bit better, get a proper light fixture, perhaps a paper lantern (there is only a bare bulb in the ceiling fixture right now), and hang some artwork over the dresser/ change table. Then his nursery will finally be complete!
Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there! I hope you will be surrounded by love and loveliness, and get to relax on this special day. I'm so excited to celebrate my first Mother's Day tomorrow! Having my sweet baby boy is certainly the best gift I could ever ask for. Now I feel like I truly understand the meaning of this holiday--and it will be fabulous to enjoy being the one celebrated, of course! My fiance is going to make dinner, which will include oysters Kilpatrick, I'm told. Sounds fancy. I'm liking this holiday already!
my sweet boy, Levi, age 6 months
Here are a few lovely things which, I'm sure, many moms would love to have...
Like many of you, I've become a little obsessed with bunting. For weddings, baby showers, kids' rooms and parties, or anywhere else you want to add a festive touch, the charm of colourful fabric bunting has a timeless appeal.
Starlit Nest Gifts, from Santa Cruz, California, USA, offers a huge range of bunting banners, as well as other fabric garland, baby quilts, and other custom fabric creations, for parties, weddings, interior decoration, and photo shoots. I'm smitten with their adorable creations. I love the colours and prints of the fabrics used, and the sweet details, like tiny white pompom trim on baby quilts. You can see more of their gorgeous wares here, on etsy. They ship worldwide, so even those of us who live in far-flung places can enjoy their lovely things.

As you may have guessed, from my lack of posting here, my beautiful baby boy has made his grand entrance into the world. Levi Charles was born on Friday, 18 October. I'm in love with his little round face and dark hair. Glen and I couldn't be happier. I'm still in hospital, recovering, since I had a Caesarean section. (I won't go into the unpleasant details. I'll just tell you that it was an emergency, not planned.) Once breastfeeding is established, Levi and I will get to go home, to start living our happy little family life.
...for the baby to decide he's ready to make his grand entrance. It feels like I've been pregnant forever. I'm as ready as I'll ever be (and I'm nervous, of course!).
I hope you are enjoying a lovely relaxing weekend.
I'm spending some quality time on the sofa this weekend, since I'm nursing a sore throat/ cold. I lost my voice a few days ago. I think my body is ignoring my pleas for help, so it can focus on baby-growing (or "baby-baking" as a friend of mine says). This has been a less-than-fun week for me. At least I have these beautiful images to look at, to keep my spirits up!
