feeling festive

Doesn't Grace Kelly look fabulously festive in her white coat and red hat? I think so. And look at that smile. So beautiful.

This photo reminds me of an elderly lady I saw walking down the street yesterday, on her husband's arm, near the post office. She was wearing a white blouse and long red pencil skirt and a double strand of pearls, dressed to the nines, out for her holiday shopping. She looked lovely. People just don't dress like they used to.

Today I'm kicking off a new series, here on the blog, called "Wedding Wednesday" for obvious reasons. (It just sounds cute.)

Lace is our theme for today. I've always loved lace for weddings, especially beautiful lace wedding gowns. Being a total romantic, how could I not? There are so many lovely lace gowns out there now, and lots of lace-inspired touches to add to an overall wedding theme. Like the lace-look cake, above, which I think is just exquisite. Or lace-trim invitations. A bride could really go all out with the lace look. But, as we all know, the big show-stopper of a wedding is always the bride's gown. What better way to make an entrance than wearing a gorgeous lace gown, perhaps one with a dramatically low-cut back?
