Feeling Fancy

I'm in a fanciful mood this evening, after having seen the gorgeous Fashion Icons exhibition, this afternoon, at the Art Gallery of South Australia. The show presented a fascinating timeline of iconic fashions from the 1950's until today. Seeing all those stunning fashions made me miss doing design and art work, and sewing. It also made me wish I had a much more fabulous wardrobe! At least I can always swoon over images of beautiful fashions, like these.

Remembering Oscar de la Renta

Looking back at the many, many beautiful fashions designed by Oscar de la Renta over the years, I found myself saying, over and over, "Oh, this one was a favourite"... Then I had a moment of recognition. You see, I have always thought that there are so many incredibly talented, unique fashion designers in the world that I could not possibly choose a favourite. But, now, I know I do have a favourite designer, and it would have to be the late Oscar de la Renta. His feminine, glamorous dresses make me swoon.

His passing this week has made me cherish his gifts of beauty to the world even more than ever before. I know I'm far from alone in saying that he was truly a great designer, one whose remarkable fashions will continue to inspire us for many years to come. He will be missed.

Here are 20 of my favourite Oscar de la Renta designs. I could have included many more images, but these will have to suffice as my tribute to this beloved fashion designer.

Fab Frock Friday | Tex Saverio

This evening I have had the pleasure of discovering the enchanting work of Indonesian fashion designer Tex Saverio. Having stumbled upon a couple of images of a bridal gown he designed, my search led me to find out that he designed a wedding gown for The Hunger Games film (which I have yet to watch). His haute couture and bridal collections are incredibly theatrical and glamorous--I would even say "mythical", as you can see.

Fab Frock Friday | Think Pink for Valentine's!

Happy Valentine's Day!

What perfect colour to wear for this most feminine and romantic of holidays except the prettiest of pinks.

Wishing you and yours a swoon-worthy day.
