Feeling Fancy

I'm in a fanciful mood this evening, after having seen the gorgeous Fashion Icons exhibition, this afternoon, at the Art Gallery of South Australia. The show presented a fascinating timeline of iconic fashions from the 1950's until today. Seeing all those stunning fashions made me miss doing design and art work, and sewing. It also made me wish I had a much more fabulous wardrobe! At least I can always swoon over images of beautiful fashions, like these.

Iconic

I clearly remember seeing these iconic fashion photos back in the early-mid 1990s. These images really take me back to a moment in my life when fashion was starting to become a great love of mine. I can almost hear Madonna's "Express Yourself" playing in the background...
Oh, the 1990s... When are they coming back into fashion?

glam winter nails

Although it is summer here in the land down under, I always love finding trend inspiration from back home in America. The trends usually end up here, a few months later, so it helps to give me an idea of what's coming up on the fashion horizon. Also, I believe that you should wear whatever you like, regardless of seasonal trends and other fads. Why not? That is what true style is all about, in my opinion.

I love the glam winter nail colours featured on Julep this season. Moody shades of violet, blue, and bronze are definitely shades I cam get into. I'm a cool colour kinda gal, a January baby (p.s. I just had a major birthday, and I'm still trying to embrace the new decade I'm now a part of... the fabulous 40s!). So, if you are like me, you're going to love these nail colours, too.

I also like Julep's tips for "winterizing" your nails. Since I live in a dry climate, these tips would be great for me to keep in mind pretty much all year long. To be honest, I rarely paint my finger nails, since they always seem to chip within 24 hours. I always paint my toe nails, though. I just can't stand seeing my toe nails naked! Maybe if I get the chance (aka the baby's nap time), I could treat myself to a manicure. Yes, that sounds good to me!

dreamy bridal gowns

It seems like ages since I've done a wedding post! I just happened upon an ethereally beautiful lace gown, seen on Pinterest, and wanted to share it with you. Then, of course, I found more and more beautiful gowns! I somehow forget all of the amazing images I've collected, and then fall in love with them all over again. I hope you love them, too.

So, here's a handful of dreamy gowns for you...

The Royal Mansour Hotel, Marrakech

On this sultry summer evening, I'm daydreaming of escaping to the Royal Mansour Hotel in Marrakech, Morocco. I'd love to drift through the beautifully tiled passageways, dip my fingers in the cool fountains, lie under the shade of the palms, listen to jazz in the lounge, relax in an elegant riad, and lazily glide through the pool's aqua waters of this gorgeous hotel. The hotel's cozy terraces, with their stunning views of the Koutoubia Moaque and Atlas Mountains, must be so relaxing. I could spend days gazing upon the exquisite archways, tiles, and various other detailed ornamentation, created over the course of four years by over 1500 Moroccan artisans. What a heavenly escape...
