Although I usually tend to favour romantic and pretty styles, sometimes I enjoy seeing more linear and angular looks. Simple geometry can produce such striking results in a room, especially when juxtaposed with curves and soft elements. I love the little geometric paper shapes in the glass dome. I would like to make something like that.

...........

P.S. Speaking of decorating ideas... G and I got approval to hang artwork, etc. on the walls of our rental unit. I'm excited to have a reason to get back into painting! I'd like to do a few new paintings, as well as frame a print or two (eventually, as these things take time).

On a not-so-happy note, we were told that we are not allowed to have any pets here. Oh well. At least we can enjoy the affection of a grey and white cat, who visits us almost every day. He's a sweetie.

Purple... lilac... lavender... violet....
All such gorgeous colours for a wedding! I especially like deep velvety purple, since it looks so striking next to white.

Artist Spotlight: Todd Hunter

Energetic brushwork and vibrant juicy colours characterise the work of Australian painter Todd Hunter. I would absolutely love to have one of his gorgeous paintings. Wouldn't you?

a lovely find

Yesterday, Glen and I had a beautiful day, driving through the Barossa wine country, having lunch at a favourite bakery, and enjoying the gorgeous autumn weather.

We stopped to have a look around at an antique shop, where I found this adorable salt and pepper shaker set. Isn't it perfect? The tiny sheep have pink details, were made in Japan, probably in the 1950s or 60s, and cost a mere five dollars. I'm quite happy with this little find.

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend--especially those of you in the States, having a long holiday weekend, for Memorial Day.

Cheers!
