Blue + Green + Stripes

I have always loved cool colours, such as blues and greens. They make me think of floating in water, or lying upon soft green grass, looking at the blue sky above. Cool hues can be so relaxing and refreshing, which makes them a beautiful choice for a bedroom or bathroom.

This bedroom, in the 2013 HGTV Dream House, would be wonderful for a guest bedroom, or for children. Matching beds are so adorable, especially in kids' rooms. I love those wide horizontal stripes on the walls, the beautiful four-poster beds, and pretty butterfly pillows.

The spacious nearby bathroom, also designed in blues and greens, is equally lovely, with that gorgeous mother-of-pearl inlay mirror and marble shower.

While I love these colours, I've got to say, the design is a little too "matchy-matchy" for me. I think the rooms just need a few more pieces, which don't follow the theme too closely, and add a bit of warmth, such as the artwork, with touches of pink and orange, to add more depth to the design.

Wedding Wednesday: A beautiful wedding in Italy

About a year ago, I fell in love with a dress by Valentino, delicately embroidered with tiny black and white flowers and polka dots, which I featured on a Fab Frock Friday post. One of the images in that post was of a bride wearing the dress, which seemed so offbeat and lovely, to me.

I had been wondering about this bride, wanting to see more of her wedding. To my great delight, I stumbled upon more photos from the wedding, and was absolutely enchanted by every image. The groom, as it turns out, also has excellent taste. He wore Prada.

Jenny and Graziano were married in Veneto, Italy, sharing their special day with 80 of their loved ones. The couple described their wedding as "A day full of emotion and laughter. It was the wedding we wanted."

Their wedding seems so personal and sweet, thoughtfully designed with love and a refreshingly simple aesthetic. The grand Villa Zasso, with its breathtaking views, provided a perfect setting for this beautiful wedding.

Carolina Dreamin'

A sprawling Sixties house in Charlotte, North Carolina has been transformed into a fabulous contemporary family home. Striking a balance between kitsch and classic, the owners of this home have cleverly juxtaposed original features of the home with their own new and vintage furnishings, creating easy-to-live-in spaces full of personality.

The original double front doors with coloured glass inserts make quite a first impression. My favourite room in the house is the dining room, with its hand-painted de Gournay wallpaper and vintage Jean Prouve table and sideboard. I had seen this photo, quite some time ago, and it has always remained in my mind as an ideal dining room (yes, it is in my Dream House files!). I just love that light blue sideboard against the beautiful floral wallpaper.

Another space which really draws my eye is the lounge. I love the bright white walls, simple modern fireplace, and cozy mix of colourful pieces--and, especially, that shimmering gold panel near the fireplace. It adds a glamorous touch of sparkle to the room.

What do you like most about this home? I would love to hear your thoughts.
