An Elegant Italian Farmhouse

This incredibly elegant, luxurious 17th century Italian farmhouse, situated on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, was masterfully decorated by designer Eric Egan in a mere twelve months. The designer, who often designs five-star luxury hotels, gave the same attention to detail to this vacation property for a family of six as he does for his hotel projects, delivering a perfectly-designed home--down to the food in the refrigerator!--making it ready to be lived-in and thoroughly enjoyed on the day the family moved in.

Egan has been living and designing in Milan for over 20 years, making him the ideal designer for this project. In those twelve months, he somehow procured a magical blend of old, new, and custom-made furnishings, to complete designs for the property's six buildings and garden.

My favourite features of the home are the hand-painted tree mural in the entrance hall, the amazing arched window, glistening brass table, and Claude Lalanne chandelier in the dining room, the custom screen, made of panels of de Gournay wallpaper, in the master bedroom, and the stunning views over the Umbrian hills from the gorgeous terrace.

Who wouldn't fancy having a holiday in such a luxurious home?

Escape to Capri

A bit of escapism for Sunday afternoon...

This home on the island of Capri has the most amazing views from the garden! I think I will just stare at these beautiful pictures for a while, and relax.

A Romantic Villa in Italy

This 18th century mill in Friuli, Italy has been transformed into a breathtakingly beautiful villa. Architect/ designer Michelle Bonan has blended old world charm with contemporary elegance in the design of this magnificent property. She has carefully chosen antique furniture, tapestries, and objects to fill the home with timeless beauty. White stucco and turquoise blue shutters create a graceful facade. The lovely green and white garden is full of roses, boxwood, and jasmine, while the pool is set with delicate blue and white wrought iron French-style furniture, echoing the exterior colours of the home.

This exquisite place seems like a fairytale to me. I can just imagine spending long, leisurely days there, lounging by the pool, meandering through the gardens, having wonderful picnics and dinner parties, and happily basking in the sun. Couldn't you?

Wedding Wednesday: A beautiful wedding in Italy

About a year ago, I fell in love with a dress by Valentino, delicately embroidered with tiny black and white flowers and polka dots, which I featured on a Fab Frock Friday post. One of the images in that post was of a bride wearing the dress, which seemed so offbeat and lovely, to me.

I had been wondering about this bride, wanting to see more of her wedding. To my great delight, I stumbled upon more photos from the wedding, and was absolutely enchanted by every image. The groom, as it turns out, also has excellent taste. He wore Prada.

Jenny and Graziano were married in Veneto, Italy, sharing their special day with 80 of their loved ones. The couple described their wedding as "A day full of emotion and laughter. It was the wedding we wanted."

Their wedding seems so personal and sweet, thoughtfully designed with love and a refreshingly simple aesthetic. The grand Villa Zasso, with its breathtaking views, provided a perfect setting for this beautiful wedding.
