Yesterday we spent a relaxing day at the beach, and, let me tell you, it was heavenly! The ocean was incredibly calm, and there were only a handful of people on the beach. We had gotten new beach towels for the entire family, new sun hats for me and for Glen (a turquoise straw hat for me, and a white fedora with black band for him), as well as a new pair of "sunnies" (aka sunglasses) for him.
We were not the only creatures enjoying a day at the beach yesterday. We saw a pair of pelicans go floating by. Then we saw two dolphins swim past us! They were really close. It was amazing! (After the initial fear of them possibly being sharks wore off, we could enjoy this unexpected moment.) Everyone was shrieking and pointing, because the dolphins were swimming so close by. Because the water was so calm, the dolphins could get near the shore. Glen thought the dolphins seemed to be as fascinated by us humans as we were by them.
After having a lovely swim, I wandered the beach, looking for seashells, as Glen sunned himself, and his daughters built sand castles. Then we had ice creams, before heading back home through the hills. All in all, it was a pretty perfect day.
